“I put on about 15kg over a two year period and I decided I had to do something about it. I started training in the gym with Bec in July 2010. Plan B also offered kayaking, which I wanted to try, but I had a fear of being on or in the ocean, I felt intimated in groups and out of my comfort zone.

The first time I went out I was so scared - there were times I wanted to quit kayaking and the gym. If it wasn’t for Bec’s support and encouragement, I wouldn’t have been able to have the confidence to stick with it.

I now look forward to Saturday morning kayaking and have even enjoyed it through the cold winter mornings. In September I will be going on a plan B kayaking trip in the Whitsundays. This is something I wouldn’t have been able to do without Bec motivating me.

When I started in the plan b gym I couldn’t even run around the block without stopping several times. I hated running and although it’s still not one of my favourite past times with Bec’s encouragement I have since competed in the Mother’s day classic 4.5km run and the City To Bay 6km fun run. One of my goals now is to do the 2km swim leg in December of the Anaconda Adventure race in Lorne, which terrifies me, but with plan b’s help I know I will be able to do it.

Since starting with Bec just over 12 months ago I have lost 18kg but have gained so much more. It has been a life changing experience and has meant much more than exercise and weight loss to me. It’s the best thing I have ever done.

I recommend plan b to anyone who wants to improve their health and fitness and change their life. If I can do it, anyone can!
